Joseph A. Puppo

NORTON -- Joseph A. Puppo, 94, a quiet, gentle man, passed away on October 4, 2009 surrounded by his loving family.  Joe loved his family more than anything. He always had a big warm smile for everyone he encountered. He was a hardworking and generous man who impacted many people with his kindness and thoughtful ways. Following his retirement he and his wife Mary moved to Ohio to be near their children. Although he did not have an extensive education he was very smart and wise. He was a talented woodworker, artist and home mechanic. He designed and built many things and could repair anything. His hobbies included bird watching, antique cars and nature hikes with his family.  Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Mary; sister, Mary; and brothers, Rocco, Tony and Pat. He is survived by his beautiful wife of 68 years, Mary; daughters, Terri (Doug) Snyder of Barberton and Brenda (Tim) Klinger of Akron; grandchildren, Tracey (Dan) Beard, Michelle (Bob) Stoddard and Elizabeth Klinger; great-grandchildren, Louis, Nicole, Camille, Ashlee, Taylor, Rachel and Mason; great-great-grandson, Austin; brothers, Louis, John (Angie) and Nicholas (Evelyn) Puppo; and sisters, Anna Ottaviano and Terry Babich.  "Pop-Pop, that's your name." We love you Pop.  Joe's family would like to thank Dr. Philip Gilcrest and his staff for their care and friendship. We are especially grateful to Hospice of Summa, specifically the team of Laura, Yvonne, Louise and Shirley.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, October 8, 2009, 10 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Rev. Robert Jackson celebrant. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Calling Hours Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton, where prayers will be said Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
