BARBERTON -- Gary Azell Gray, 64, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 1, 2009 after battling heart disease and cancer. Gary was born in Akron and was an area resident all his life. After his retirement from Bridgestone Firestone, he enjoyed part-time work at Firestone Country Club and Chippewa Golf Course. Gary loved boating, biking, fishing and being with family and friends. He was also a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church. Preceded in death by his parents, Azell and Dorothy Gray; Survivors include his devoted and loving wife of 25 years, Sally; sons, Gary (Tonya), Denny (Beth) and Michael Gray; mother of his children, Cheryl Gray; step children, Diane, Greg (Kelli) and David (Amber) Sheridan. Gary deeply loved his grandchildren, William, Alexis, Erin and Emily Gray; Brad, Baylee and Jenna Sheridan and Meagan LaBruzzo. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, September 5, 2009, 10 A.M. at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Private Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Calling Hours Friday from 5 to 7 P.M. at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton, where prayers will be said Saturday morning at 9:30 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association 's Bridgestone Americas Heart Walk Team or the American Cancer Society in Gary's memory.
