Eleanor L. Farrance (Aked), 74, passed away February 15, 2010 after a short battle with cancer. She was born in Akron in 1935 to the late Clement and Elizabeth (Harmon) Aked and was a member of Family of Faith UMC. Eleanor graduated from East High School in 1954 as salutatorian and was a member of the Glee Club. She retired from Prudential-Bache Securities in 2001 after 20 years of service and more than anything, loved her family, church and pets. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her baby sister, Betty Lou. She leaves behind, her husband of 54 years, Robert; children, Carla (Dana) Schertz, Robert (Diana) Farrance, David Farrance and James (Jackie) Farrance; grandchildren, William (Jessica) Schertz, and Jonathan and Matthew Schertz, Jessica Lanaghan, Joshua and Catherine Farrance, and Sarah, Kaitlyn and Abigail Farrance; and great-grandson, Nathan Lanaghan. The funeral service will be held on Friday, February 19, 2010, at 10 a.m., at Family of Faith United Methodist Church, 800 E. Market St., with Rev. Ron Shultz officiating. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, February 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home and Chapel, 760 E. Market St. Donations may be made to the Humane Society or Family of Faith UMC in her memory.
