DALTON – Edward McGraner, age 90, died October 23, 2009 at his home. Funeral service will be Monday, October 26, 2009 at 11:30 a.m. at the Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 29 E. Main St. Dalton, 44618 with Rev. Duane Wilbur officiating. Friends may call Monday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at Dalton Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525 Back Orrville Rd., Wooster, OH 44691. Edward McGraner was born April 3, 1919 in Neon, Kentucky to Edward and Ada (Hammonds) McGraner. A resident of Dalton for 31 years, previously of Massillon, he retired from Republic Steel and was a member of the Massillon Church of God for 57 years. He was also a member of F & AM Lodge in Kentucky. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping. He is survived by son, Bill McGraner of Dalton; daughter, Ada (Richard) Halter of Cincinnati; granddaughters Kelly (Hal) Harper of Dalton, Lynn (Bob Rommel) Bencivenga of N.J., Shawn (Vince) Henson of OK, Simone (Manny) Hernandez of FL; grandsons, Richard Halter II and Gregory Halter of Cincinnati, Mitchell McGraner of Massillon; great-grandchildren, Jessica Harper, Lindsay Harper, Richard Halter III, Timothy Halter, Shayna Bencivenga, Dallas McGraner, Angelina Perez, Brittany Henson, Brett Henson; brother, Rev. Burton McGraner; sisters, Rosemond (Harry) Ward, Marie (Delmar) Neace all of Vicco, KY; special friend Helen Eckstein and many extended family members and friends. He is preceded in death by wife, Virta; son, Phil; grandson, Michael Halter; an infant sister; brothers, Owen Begley, and Paul and Ted McGraner.
