Charles R. Harris

Charles R. Harris, 80, passed away Oct. 15, 2009.  He was born in Chester, W. Va. to the late Charles A. and Andrea P. Harris, and had been a lifelong Akron area resident. He was a veteran of the United States National Guard and was a diesel mechanic for most of his life. He worked for Akron Chicago Trucking Company and later retired from Cummins Diesel with 20 years of service.  In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Mable; sister, Audrey; and brothers, Harold, James and Raymond. He is survived by his children, Claudia (Jeffrey) Bacik, Charles (Paula) Harris, Pamela Howes, Cheryl Severance and Jeralyn Kriston; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; brothers, Clarence (Diana) and Jack (Sue); sister, Donna; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.  The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2009, at 7 p.m., at the Eckard Baldwin Sanctuary Chapel, 760 E. Market St., with Rev. Joseph Lee officiating. Calling hours will be three hours prior to the service, from 4 to 7 p.m.
