BARBERTON -- Anna E. Cusher, 87, passed away Monday, December 7, 2009 after a brief illness. Anna was born on January 17, 1922 in the former Czechoslovakia and had been a Barberton resident most of her life where she retired from Barberton Citizens Hospital after 30 years of service as a dietary supervisor. She was a member of the former S.S. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church where she was active in St. Anne's Society and the Altar & Rosary Society. She was currently a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church. Preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, John; her parents, Anna and Andrew Kocay; sisters, Ellona Kulanova and Maria Bodnorova; and brother, Steven Kocay all of Slovakia; survivors include her son, John of Wadsworth; sister, Paulina Kulanova of Slovakia; 11 nieces and nephews, all of Slovakia; cousins, Fran (Bill) Lessiter of Marshallville, Michelle (Alan) Fox of Marshallville, Donald (Melinda) Lessiter of North Canton, Michael (Heather) Lessiter of Marshallville, Jordan and Heather Fox and Matthew and Steven Lessiter, all of Marshallville; nieces, Margaret McArdle of Barberton and Mary (Joe) Slanovec of Wadsworth. Also, a special thanks to the Jenco family. The family wishes to thank the staffs at Akron General Medical Center, Summa Barberton Hospital, Pleasant View Health Care Center and VNS Hospice for the care and support given to mother during her illness. The family would also like to thank Doctors Dar, Husain and Mustafa for their care given to mom. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, December 10, 2009, 10 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Calling hours Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton, where prayers will be said Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to VNS Hospice or Pleasant View Health Care Center.
